Projek jambatan yang dibina merentasi sungai-sungai di Sarawak merupakan suatu projek yang menjadi kemestian bagi pihak kerajaan Barisan Nasional kerana hanya dengan pembinaannya saja maka membolehkan projek jalanraya yang dirancang untuk menghubungkan banyak tempat terpencil dapat dilaksanakan mengikut perancangan.
Sarawak satu-satunya negeri dalam Malaysia yang mendapatkan peruntukan terbesar daripada kerajaan BN Pusat bagi projek pembinaan jambatannya yang kini berjumlah lebih kurang 30 buah jambatan kesemuanya malah terdapat beberapa sungai di Sarawak yang telah dibina dengan jambatan lebih dari sebuah contohnya bagi Sungai Kemena di Bintulu terdapat 3 buah jambatan begitu juga dengan Sungai Igan 3 buah jambatan serta di tempat lain.
Manakala di Sungai Oya Dalat pula kerajaan BN telah membina dua buah jambatan konkrit iaitu sebuah di Kuala Oya dan satu lagi di sebelah hulu Kampung Baru Melanau Dalat yang menghubungkan jalanraya dari Dalat ke Kampung Sungai Kut dan Kampung Hilir Dalat serta Kampung Brunei di seberang pasar.
